SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Assistant Project Manager is a professional responsible for planning and coordinating projects, undertaking administrative duties, and independently managing essential elements to ensure projects are completed on time. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of technical, administrative, and managerial tasks. Below is a detailed list of your key responsibilities:
Project Coordination and Oversight:
- Assist in coordinating and overseeing work activities by construction personnel, technical professionals, consultants, and other outside agencies to provide support, resolve concerns, and ensure project completion.
- Provide technical solutions to challenges encountered during construction or design activities.
Contract and Budget Management:
- Assist in developing contractual budgetary controls, managing schedules, and establishing/executing the scope of work.
- Interpret contracts and construction and design documents.
- Verify and process progress payments and negotiate the cost of changes to contracts.
- Monitor documentation and processing of information affecting required change orders.
Documentation and Paperwork:
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including meeting minutes, project meeting documents, and logs.
- Generate and manage monthly financial reports, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
- Maintain Request for Information (RFI) logs and submittal logs, ensuring all documents are up-to-date and readily accessible.
- Prepare and evaluate processes and procedures to ensure project goals are achieved.
Inspections and Quality Assurance:
- Conduct inspections to ensure adherence to contract specifications and requirements.
- Implement and monitor quality assurance processes to ensure project deliverables meet required standards.
- Conduct constructability reviews of plans and specifications.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify and address any quality issues.
Communication and Reporting:
- Facilitate effective communication between project teams, clients, and stakeholders.
- Prepare and present project status reports to management and clients.
- Document and report any project changes, delays, or issues that may arise.
- Attending various project meetings and preparing associated meeting minutes and documentation.
Safety Management:
- Ensure all project activities comply with safety regulations and guidelines.
- Conduct safety meetings and training sessions for project teams.
- Investigate and report any safety incidents or accidents.
Vendor and Contractor Management:
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
- Review and approve vendor invoices and contractor payments.
- Manage vendor and contractor performance, addressing any issues or disputes that arise.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices.
- Stay updated with industry trends, technologies, and innovations.
- Participate in professional development and training activities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Team Leadership and Development
- Mentor and support junior engineers and team members.
- Foster a collaborative and positive work environment.
- Assist in the recruitment and onboarding of new team members.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 3 years in commercial and podium multi-family. Modular experience is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred
- Advanced knowledge of construction principles/practices required.
- Experience dealing with subcontracts, subcontractors, and/or self-performance work.
- Experience leading successful project teams, including the development of employees, and maintaining relationships with external entities.
- Excellent organizational, team management, problem-solving, and motivational skills.
- Knowledge of San Diego trades and permit process a plus
- Solid computer skills, with a working knowledge of MS Office, Smartsheet, Project Sight, and Net Suite a plus

- Competitive salary ranges $100,000 - $110,000 depending on experience.
