Overview:
Reporting to the President, the successful candidate must be prepared to understand and anticipate consumer needs/desires, assess competitive offerings, develop merchandising and product plans/strategies, and provide strong leadership that prioritizes and clarifies merchandising initiatives while fostering a team-oriented performance-driven culture. Specifically, overall brand strategies including guiding, implementing and developing the business strategies, identifying new product/category opportunities and working closely with cross-functional teams in sales, e-commerce, marketing, and operations to maximize sales and profits for the Canadian Division (located in Montreal) of a USA Manufacturer. With a total team of 30, this role leads product development and design, and strategic leadership over merchandising and business planning of products from kick-off through introduction into the market, working to create product briefs for major introductions that are grounded in an understanding of consumer behavior, competitive offerings, market trends, and channel strategies. Create and manage seasonal line plans for all product categories including product pricing, margins, inventory turn, and SKU productivity. Lead the Design, Sourcing, and Creative teams to develop effective line plans, identify opportunities for category and item diversification while balancing the line by aesthetic and price, and develop a strong vision for product collaborations across the brand.
A consumer durable background is key for this role. Sports equipment, Patio Furniture, Electric Outdoor Fireplaces, Camping, Water Sports Equipment etc. Candidates must be bilingual (French/English)
Qualifications
We seek an exceptional GM with ten-plus years of leadership experience in consumer goods management including overall strategy and business planning, product design and development, sourcing, marketing, sales, and demonstrable profitable growth.S/he will know how to build collaborative relationships and to foster trust by involving others in idea generation, product planning, brand marketing, and decision-making. Experience in both Retail and DTC channels.
- Proven ability to seamlessly manage competing priorities, while maintaining focus and meeting deadlines and objectives within product merchandising, marketing, and operations.
- Highly developed merchandising sense and passion for/understanding of specialty retail. S/he will possess an infinite curiosity about style, home, and lifestyle design and merchandising.
