The Controller is responsible for leading all aspects of finance, accounting, and related IT systems at In Control. The
Controller will be the champion of In Control’s project and inventory accounting systems, will use various metrics to monitor and oversee the health of sales and operations, and will ensure various teams have the information they need to operate efficiently. This “roll-up your sleeves” position is responsible for leading all accounting functions, including financial statement preparation, cash management, overseeing A/P & A/R, updating and managing WIP schedules, coordinating tax compliance with external accounting firm, and overseeing inventory control systems. The Controller will also be responsible for In Control’s IT infrastructure, overseeing our external IT managed service provider.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all accounting functions, including Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
- Prepare annual budget, monthly financial reports (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Aged Accounts, etc.)
- Coordinate and conduct month-end close activities:
- o Ensure costs incurred are properly recorded; Ensure all operations activity is properly invoiced.
- o Conduct WIP Reconciliation, reconciling inventory and cost accounts to project schedule management system.
- o Create and update project profitability reporting, reviewing open projects.
- o Prepare journal entries to recognize revenue on percentage of completion, performance obligation, or as-invoiced basis as appropriate.
- o Update and maintain Fixed Asset schedules; make Depreciation and Amortization entries.
- Prepare, process, and post bank deposits; Manage weekly vendor payment process; Process semi-monthly payroll.
- Prepare and file monthly sales tax returns; set up new states and jurisdictions as needed.
- Prepare and collect information for year-end audits/tax returns, coordinate with outside accounting firm.
- Develop, review, and maintain business accounting processes, systems, and procedures to maintain and strengthen internal controls and enable future growth.
- Advise and develop employees with project administration responsibilities; ensure work is completed efficiently and effectively; direct and coordinate workflow.
- Oversee business administration IT systems; manage relationship with outside IT managed service provider.
- Secure and renew appropriate general commercial liability insurance.
- Participate as member of Leadership Team.
- Other accounting, financial, IT, or leadership responsibilities, as needed.

- 7 years of diversified accounting experience; construction or manufacturing industry a plus.
- Advanced experience with accounting/ERP software; preference for Microsoft Dynamics Navision or Business Central.
- Demonstrated ability to learn, configure, and implement new software systems and features throughout an organization to achieve efficiency, consistency, and enable organizational growth.
- Highly organized, analytical, and skilled at problem solving; ability to think strategically, flexible, team-orientated and works collaboratively with all levels of the company. Ability to safeguard confidential information – high level of integrity.
- Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business. Additional years’ experience may substitute for formal education.
Salary : $95,000 - $120,000
