Job Summary:

The Payroll Specialist will process weekly payroll and maintain employee time records as well as interact with the company’s clients by addressing inquiries and resolving complaints.

Duties/Responsibilities:

· Interacts with clients via telephone, email, online chat, or in person to provide support and information.

· Ensures that appropriate actions are taken to resolve clients’ problems and concerns.

· Maintains client accounts and records of client interactions with details of inquiries, complaints, or comments.

· Uses knowledge of specific services, or other assigned area of expertise to answer inquiries or to forward to the appropriate staff.

· Performs other related duties as assigned.

· Enters, maintains, and/or processes information in the payroll system; information may include employee’s hourly rates, bonuses or other compensation, reimbursements, time worked, deductions and withholding, address changes, and other information.

· Ensures proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, charitable contributions, and other deductions.

· Reconciles payroll to the general ledger and monthly bank statements.

· Issues, or reissues, physical or replacement checks or direct deposits due to payroll errors or final discharge.

· Records and processes federal and state payroll tax deposits.

Required Skills/Abilities:

· Excellent communication skills including active listening.

· Service-oriented and able to resolve customer grievances.

· Proficient computer skills with the ability to learn new software.

· Knowledge of, or ability to learn, the Consumer Directed Services delivery model of home healthcare.

· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

· Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll software.

Education and Experience:

· High school diploma or equivalent required.

· Customer service experience required.

· Some experience with home healthcare services preferred.

Physical Requirements:

· Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

· Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
