Role: Broadcast Director
Location: Downtown Washinton DC
Hours: 2pm - 10pm (Rota Monday - Sunday)
My client is at the forefront of TV and Broadcast technology, specialising in the automation of networked newsrooms!
They have an immediate requirement for a Broadcast director, working with a live newscast in central Washington DC.
The Broadcast director is responsible for the overall quality and execution of broadcast programs. Working closely with Programme Editors, Output Producers, and other team members, Broadcast Director ensures that programs adhere to channel guidelines and are presented in a visually and aurally compelling manner.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the smooth running of the live and non-live galleries/control rooms and studios.
- Working closely with the editorial lead and instructing all operational staff in all their roles.
- Overseeing all elements of the production from conception through to completion.
- Anticipating challenges and finding solutions to them in short time periods.
- Operating the vision mixer and video servers while simultaneously directing the output.
Requirements
- Broadcast Director is required to be a calm and effective operator and must demonstrate composure under pressure.
- Experience working with automation technologies such as Viz Mozart, Ross Overdrive, Sony ELC or Grass Valey
- Required to work collaboratively with editorial and technical colleagues and to be able to take firm and decisive action as program changes are made and breaking news occurs.
- A knowledge of world news is important, including being able to recognise and distinguish famous faces and world leaders.
- Creativity in directing programmes is also desirable, as well as an ability to generate a sympathetic approach to different genres.
- Broadcast Director role requires the operation of control room equipment. It therefore requires a level of technical knowledge alongside operational competency.
- To be willing and able to work effectively on a variety of different shifts, including overnights, weekends and public holidays.
- Minimum of 5 years experience working within a similar role
