Director - Data Engineering

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Data Engineering to lead and manage critical data engineering initiatives within the wealth management domain. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of wealth management processes, expertise in data feeds, and a proven track record of delivering end-to-end data integration solutions using AWS and other cutting-edge technologies. This individual will also play a pivotal role in fostering client relationships, managing programs, and driving innovation in the data engineering landscape.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategy:

• Lead the overall data engineering program, setting the vision, strategy, and roadmap to meet client and organizational goals.
• Drive innovation and optimization of data processing, integration, and storage systems to improve scalability, performance, and reliability.

Domain Expertise:

• Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) in wealth management, including deep knowledge of industry-specific processes, regulatory requirements, and market trends.
• Provide expert guidance on integrating data feeds from DTCC, NSCC, and other financial data providers to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.

Technical Excellence:

• Oversee the architecture and design of modern data solutions leveraging data lakes, AWS cloud technologies, and advanced analytics platforms.
• Ensure the use of best practices in data security, governance, and compliance across all systems.

Program & Client Management:

• Manage and oversee the successful delivery of data engineering programs from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor to address their business and technical needs.

Team Development:

• Build and lead a high-performing data engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
• Mentor and coach team members to develop their technical and professional skills.

Stakeholder Communication:

• Communicate program progress, challenges, and solutions to executive leadership, clients, and other stakeholders in a clear and effective manner.
• Present complex technical concepts in a business-friendly language to non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications:

Education:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. An MBA is a plus.

Experience:

• 12 years of experience in data engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Strong expertise in wealth management and familiarity with data feeds from DTCC, NSCC, and other financial institutions.
• Proven experience managing large-scale data engineering programs and end-to-end delivery of cloud-based data solutions.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services, Python, PySpark, and modern data integration tools and techniques.

Skills:

• Exceptional technical expertise in data architecture, ETL processes, and integration workflows.
• Strong understanding of data governance, security, and compliance frameworks within the financial services domain.
• Excellent program management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to manage clients, stakeholders, and internal teams effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with regulatory and compliance requirements in financial services.
• Certification in AWS or other cloud platforms is a plus.
