Position: Adaptive Skills Specialist (Bachelor's Degree required – See below)
***Please note that this position provides direct services to consumer with developmental disabilities. Monday through Friday 8 am to 2 pm 30 hours per week.
Pay: $32.00 - $42.00 per hour
Program Overview:
InClusion Services is seeking a dedicated and compassionate ICS Adaptive Skills Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for training and teaching adaptive skills training (AST) to adults with developmental disabilities. As an ICS AST Specialist, you will provide critical support to individuals in developing skills necessary for daily living, while creating a positive and engaging learning environment. You will collaborate closely with families, residential facilities, and other support agencies to ensure successful outcomes for each individual.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Counseling, Nursing, Social Work, Applied Behavior Analysis, Behavioral Medicine, Speech and Language, Rehabilitation, Marriage And Family Therapy, or a Comparable Degree in a human services field.
- Minimum one (1) year experience supporting individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities
- Valid certification in First Aid/CPR and CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention).
- Excellent organizational skills, planning, and time management skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; verbal and written
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret client AST and behavior plans.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and case management software.
- Bilingual in English, and spanish, preferred
- Clear fingerprint and criminal background check, child abuse index clearance, and TB screening.
- Must possess a valid California Driver's License and have current car insurance.
- Ability to effectively communicate and present information to consumers, families, and the Regional Center.
- Must be proficient in English and demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to complete 12 hours of in-service/ongoing education training per year.

Physical Requirements:

Key Responsibilities:
- Service Delivery & Skill Development: Provide adaptive skills training to enhance individuals' existing skills and address deficits in key areas, including but not limited to:
- Safety skills
- Skills needed to access the community
- Hygiene and dressing skills
- Skills needed to access technology
- Skills needed to buy and prepare food
- Competency training
- Housekeeping skills
- Toileting skills
- Feeding skills (including addressing picky eating, food refusal, and sensory-based issues)
- Staff and personnel training
- Communication skills
- Managing challenging behaviors
- Sleep and sleep hygiene
- Choice making
- Specialty counseling
- Teach adaptive skills related to daily living, such as managing money, shopping, using a telephone, and performing housework for individuals with disabilities.
- Assist in the development and implementation of individual program plans (IPPs) based on specific needs.
- Provide community support and promote participation in social activities for consumers.
- Regularly communicate with AST professionals, families, residential facilities, and other service providers to ensure coordination of care.
- Identify barriers to consumer success and work towards overcoming them.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy environment for the individuals in care.
- Attend team meetings, quarterly/semi-annual/annual meetings related to consumers, and participate in ongoing training and education.
- Train consumers to increase their activities of daily living through prompting, role-play, and visual aids.
