Summary:
The Day Loader is responsible for the safe and efficient loading of trucks with finished product, ensuring accurate order fulfillment and maintaining a smooth flow of outbound shipments. This role requires attention to detail, physical stamina, and adherence to safety protocols.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate forklift to load dry vans with super sacks and 50lb bag pallets
- Load trucks with finished product using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other provided equipment, ensuring proper weight distribution and securement.
- Verify shipping documents (e.g., bills of lading, packing slips) against loaded product to ensure accuracy.
- Inspect loaded product for quality and identify any damages or discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate records of loaded shipments, including quantities, destinations, and any discrepancies.
- Communicate with the Logistics Supervisor, truck drivers, and other team members to coordinate loading schedules and resolve any issues.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including the loading dock and surrounding areas.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Logistics Supervisor or Warehouse Manager.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Valid forklift certification preferred.
- Experience operating material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) is essential.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) regularly.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and adhere to safety protocols.
- Experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment is a plus.
Physical Demands:
- This position requires standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling.
- The employee must be able to lift and carry heavy objects regularly.
- The work environment may include exposure to dust, noise, and varying temperatures.
Work Environment:
- The Day Loader works in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
- The work schedule is typically during daytime hours, Monday through Friday, but may require occasional overtime or weekend work.
