Operates the Printing Press. Sets Up the machine, Make Ready Plates, Coating Blanket on the press, prepares and places inks on the press, retrieves programs for color management, job specifications, operates the Press, performs inspection and testing of the product, performs regular/light maintenance duties as per maintenance schedule. Follows Machine & Workplace Safety, Food Safety and ISO procedures.
Summary
Sterling Packaging, LLC established in 1990 is a privately owned company. We are a leading manufacturer of quality printed products specializing in fold carton printing. Our facility is in Monroeville, Alabama. We are currently hiring an experienced Pressman to work in our printing press operations. You will be responsible for ensuring every project is printed efficiently, within the deadline, and meets the expectations of the client. Before production, you inspect the machine and perform preventative maintenance when necessary. You also monitor the equipment during the print run and troubleshoot any issues that arise, checking the product regularly for quality. Our ideal candidate has 7 years or more of experience in printing press operations.
Responsibilities:
- Operate printing presses and related machinery while adhering to safety protocols
- Reviewing job orders to make the right adjustments to the printing machine
- Ability to distinguish colors accurately, to successfully match a press proof. Check and adjust press settings to ensure proper ink coverage, color registration, and print quality
- Collaborate with design and production teams to ensure the timely completion of printing projects
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on press equipment and machines
- Maintain inventory of printing supplies and ensure that printing materials are ordered in a timely fashion to avoid delays
- Adhere to strict quality control standards and resolve any issues that arise during the printing process
- Report any technical issues or equipment malfunctions to management
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience operating printing presses or related machinery
- Familiarity with printing processes and techniques
- Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, schematics, and other documentation related to printing machinery
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as needed
