IEC of Oregon is seeking a dependable and organized Office Assistant/Receptionist to provide general office support and serve as the first point of contact for our Salem apprenticeship training center. This entry-level, full-time, non-exempt position is ideal for someone who enjoys a busy office environment, has a positive attitude, and delivers excellent customer service. The ideal candidate will be skilled in handling multiple tasks, using Microsoft Office programs, and communicating effectively with a variety of people.
About Us:
Independent Electrical Contractors (IEC) of Oregon is a trade association representing the merit shop electrical industry. We operate a training center in Salem that supports electrician apprenticeship programs. Our organization is committed to developing a skilled, diverse workforce while supporting contractors through education, advocacy, and industry resources.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Greet and assist visitors and program participants in a professional and friendly manner
- Answer and route incoming calls and respond to general inquiries
- Maintain a clean and organized reception area and shared office spaces
- Provide general administrative support to staff, including copying, scanning, filing, and data entry
- Receive and distribute incoming mail and deliveries
- Schedule appointments and meetings as requested
- Maintain office supply inventory and place orders as needed
- Assist with event preparation, communication, and logistics
- Support basic tracking and documentation processes as directed
- Assist with light bookkeeping or recordkeeping tasks as trained
Qualifications:
- Prior office or customer service experience preferred
- Knowledge with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) required
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Friendly, professional demeanor with excellent interpersonal skills
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Dependable and punctual, with the ability to prioritize tasks
- Comfortable learning new software and office systems
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and represent the organization professionally

Salary and Benefits:
- $18–$20 per hour, depending on experience
