Job Summary:
Are you a skilled nursing professional with a passion for education and staff development? We are seeking an experienced Home Care Nurse Educator to lead training and education efforts for both new and existing staff. As a NYS approved Nurse Educator for our Licensed Home Care Services Agency (LHCSA) in New York State, you will play a key role in ensuring our nursing and home care staff are fully equipped with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to deliver exceptional care.
This position offers a dynamic blend of hands-on training, mentorship, and program development, providing a highly impactful opportunity to shape the future of home health care within our agency.
Key Responsibilities:
Education & Training Development
- Design, implement, and lead comprehensive orientation programs for new hires, ensuring they understand agency policies, procedures, and best practices in home care.
- Develop and facilitate ongoing educational programs, including clinical skills training, compliance updates, and professional development workshops.
- Conduct hands-on training for home care nurses, home health aides (HHAs), and personal care aides (PCAs), and companion caregivers on essential caregiving techniques, infection control, medication management, and other critical areas.
- Ensure all training materials comply with New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) regulations and industry standards.
Staff Support & Mentorship
- Provide one-on-one coaching and mentorship to nursing staff, ensuring competency and confidence in their roles.
- Conduct skills assessments and performance evaluations to identify areas for improvement and additional training needs.
- Support staff in maintaining certifications, licensure, and training requirements.
Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure all training programs align with NYS LHCSA regulations and home care accreditation standards.
- Maintain accurate records of staff training, certifications, and compliance documentation.
- Assist in audits, inspections, and quality assurance initiatives to ensure compliance with all regulatory bodies.
Program Enhancement & Innovation
- Stay up to date with the latest best practices, technological advancements, and regulations in home health care.
- Continuously refine and improve training programs to enhance effectiveness and engagement.
- Utilize e-learning platforms, hands-on workshops, and interactive training methods to optimize learning experiences.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State (required).
- CPR Certification
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in home health care or a related healthcare setting.
- Previous experience in staff education, training, or clinical instruction (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of NYS LHCSA regulations, DOH requirements, and home care standards.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and learning management systems (LMS) is a plus.
- Ability to adapt training approaches to diverse learning styles and skill levels.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and travel within the service area.
- Ability to handle sensitive and private information with discretion.
