Job Summary
The Domestic Violence Prevention (DVP) Health Educator is responsible for developing and implementing the DVP community coordinated response system team, advocacy services, awareness and prevention education, and cultural activities. This position will be required to use culturally appropriate methods and strategies to increase awareness of domestic violence, child abuse, and sexual violence. They must have a thorough understanding of the diverse populations served by IHB.
Essential Functions
IHB makes reasonable efforts to limit access to and use of protected health information (PHI) by employees to the minimum necessary performance of assigned duties as outlined in job descriptions. This position is access restricted to PHI needed to provide health education and carry out health care operations in assigned clinical area.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing, walking, and recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities. The work may require specific, but common, physical characteristics and abilities such as above average agility and dexterity. An individual in this position may be exposed to adverse indoor and outdoor environmental conditions, blood borne pathogens, physical hazards (e.g. needle pricks, etc.) and chemical hazards

Job Summary

Essential Functions
- Plan, organize and deliver the components of the DVP program.
- Deliver DVP awareness education with community members and patients in various settings to include time spent in the community such as attending community events and powwows. Approximately 10% or more of educational activities will be conducted in the community setting.
- Implement and manage health education strategies and interventions.
- Provide services to IHB patients and community members by connecting them to DVP community resources and services.
- Develop and improve patient education materials and other tools for domestic violence, sexual violence, and child abuse.
- Sustain and expand the Community Coordinated Response Team by continuing to host regular meetings, growing partnerships, and developing ongoing tasks and priorities to enhance its impact.
- Work collaboratively with IHB staff to coordinate activities associated with DVP.
- Develop, implement, and host cultural groups for Native Americans at high risk for DVP and sexual violence.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of programs and educational materials per grant work plan and by utilizing pre-post test.
- Assist with training IHB employees and clinic staff about DV, sexual violence and child abuse prevention and awareness.
- Position will work with program director to collect and compile data for grant reporting.
- Participate in Performance Improvement activities as needed.
- Provides excellent customer service to patients, peers, leadership, and community partners.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Position requires occasional evening and weekend work hours to attend community events and powwows

- Familiar with local resources preferred
- Experience in social work and/or domestic violence prevention
- Proven ability to lead outcome-based activities.
- Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Detail-orientated and self-motivated
- Evaluate the effectiveness of programs and educational materials
- Strong organizational and clerical skills, including use of PC, Excel, Word and EMR
- Ability to show initiative and solve problems, manage one or more projects, be accurate and attentive to deadlines while working independently
