This position serves as a Health Technician (Paramedic) at the Pine Ridge Service Unit, Pine Ridge, SD. The primary purpose is to perform advanced technical health care extender functions within the emergency medical arena in response to various accidents and other emergencies involving injury and illness.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:
GS-06: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Independently conducts a complete assessment, using knowledge of topographic anatomy, major body systems, emergency medicine techniques, ability to sufficiently understand the legal considerations of emergency care.
GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Identifies and treats trauma/medical emergencies using advanced knowledge and skill in emergency medicine techniques, employee identifies the signs and symptoms of life-threatening and non-life-threatening medical trauma injuries
OR
Completed 1 year (18 semester hours) of graduate education that is directly related to the work of the position.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
You must meet all qualification requirements within eight (8) months of applicant apply date.

Qualifications:

- Must possess a current unrestricted Paramedic Certification or Licensure from any US State or Territory.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Responsibilities:
- Performs technical health care extender functions by identifying and treating trauma/medical emergencies using routine medical techniques that will most effectively sustain the patient's life.
- Performs safety and maintenance inspection of minor repairs on emergency and patient transport vehicles and equipment; prepares appropriate transport documents; replaces supplies, and ensures sanitation and cleanliness of patient transport vehicles.
- Communicates orally and in writing with medical and ancillary personnel using skills in emergency communication techniques and the operation of radio equipment.
