The Associate Dean, Health Sciences is responsible for fulfilling academic, administrative, and fiscal leadership in accordance with Indian Hills Community College's Strategic Plan and for exercising holistic judgment when executing the duties of this position. As such, the Associate Dean is responsible for leading curriculum development, program accreditation, assessment and evaluation, grant management, budget planning and monitoring, faculty recruitment, supervision, and evaluation. The Associate Dean leads the division's efforts to enhance the profile, visibility, and effectiveness of programs in support of college strategic priorities and key impact areas. This position provides direct leadership, management, and support to any Department Chairs, Program Directors, faculty, adjuncts and staff in the division. The Associate Dean fosters and maintains a high-quality environment for teaching and learning conducive to high levels of success as measured by student enrollment, retention and academic achievement. The Associate Dean creates and strengthens partnerships both internally and externally, as a strong advocate of the college and workforce preparedness. The Associate Dean serves on the College’s Academic Leadership team to advance collaborative academic efforts across the institution.

Minimum Job Requirements
- Master's degree in a physical or natural science or healthcare discipline, education, administration, or closely related field.
- Minimum three years of relevant professional health sciences experience.
- A commitment to and understanding of community college's mission in health sciences.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively and positively interact with all stakeholders.
- Demonstrated strong emotional intelligence and ability to communicate effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom and other technology.
- Ability to effectively work independently.
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least three years of leadership experience with supervisory responsibilities of a team.
- Deep knowledge of curriculum, instruction and assessment.
- Previous teaching experience in a community college setting.
- Experience with health sciences program accreditation.
- Current professional licensure in a health sciences field.
- Proven experience using data to inform decision-making for continuous improvement.
- Comfortable navigating and leading through ambiguity.

Health Sciences Administration:
- Oversee the daily operations and supervision of the Health Sciences programs, faculty and staff.
- Prioritize departmental needs effectively and implement plans of action to achieve goals.
- Lead accreditation and compliance processes with accreditors and regulatory entities.
- Coordinate and/or participate in department meetings, program meetings, faculty meetings, and other meetings/work sessions.
- Lead departmental efforts in program development, assessment forums, and program reviews.
- Represent Health Sciences through service on college and state-level committees.
- Coordinate and manage Health Sciences recruitment days, career fairs, and off-campus activities.
- Foster and maintain relationships with industry leaders, local organizations, government officials and other external partners in service of Health Sciences and the college.
- Collaborate inter-departmentally to achieve increasing student success, enhanced recruitment and retention results, and evaluation of programs.
- Prepare and submit all necessary reports, contracts and certification documents.
Instructional Leadership:
- Facilitate ongoing curriculum, instruction, assessment and program improvements with faculty.
- Ensure academic processes and syllabi are compliant with policies and procedures.
- Support faculty and staff to effectively assess student learning outcomes, program outcomes, as well as the college’s strategic priorities and key impact areas.
- Conduct observations and evaluate instructors’ performance as well as the effectiveness of the educational programs; providing clear recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Assist in meeting the needs of students by supporting with academic, personal and employment advisement, or provide referral to appropriate resources.
- Guide and support advisory committees with planning and developing effective programs.
- Coordinate the course scheduling process for Health Sciences in conjunction with Arts & Sciences master scheduling.
- Partner with high schools on concurrent enrollment offerings and Health Sciences Academies.
- Work with colleges to develop articulation agreements with the division.
- Support Health Sciences faculty, adjuncts, CEP instructors and staff with professional development processes including suggesting opportunities, addressing requests and completing necessary approvals.
Employee Supervision:
- Supervise employees according to program, departmental and college policies and procedures.
- Recruit and hire qualified individuals for employment.
- Provide new employees with college-wide orientation and onboarding, in conjunction with requirements from Human Resources and the Teaching and Learning Center.
- Manage the performance evaluations of assigned Health Sciences employees and recommend conditions of employment based on evaluation.
- Manage employee time entry, payroll, leave requests and travel requests for Health Sciences.
Financial and Resource Management:
- Manage the facilities, equipment and materials of the Health Sciences division.
- Oversee the processes for material and supply requests as well as the approval of purchase orders.
- Support Health Sciences program directors in monitoring program budgets and responsible allocation of funds for program needs.
- Collaborate with other deans and administrators to effectively manage the financial and human resources implications of course schedules, program development, capital equipment requests, employee work assignments and such.
