Description
Perform functions to instruct identified students ensuring each individual is provided with the knowledge, proficiencies and experiences necessary for academic and social success in the regular classroom.
Job Summary
- Conduct screenings to determine student eligibility in the program. Review and interpret results.
- Schedule, plan and instruct students on District and state approved curriculum in the classroom and in small groups.
- Modify, adapt and implement lessons and curriculum to meet individual student’s needs and varying levels of English language proficiency.
- Construct and conduct assessments to evaluate progress.
- Review student progress via assessments, maintain records of student work, and develop intervention strategies to ensure student success and growth.
- Communicate both verbally and in writing with parents and students on progress.
- Meet regularly with other grade level or departmental Teachers and support Teachers to plan, accommodate, implement and assess lessons and progress.
- Consult, provide advice and in-service to staff on issues relating to ELL.
- Actively participate in various building and District teams or committees. Provide feedback and act as liaison to other building staff.
- Enforce and support school policies, philosophies and objectives with students and parents.
- Collaborate with other staff in planning, modifying, enhancing and implementing curriculum and school objectives.
- Participate in staff development and school improvement activities in order to maintain professional growth. Plan and incorporate best practices or new strategies.
- Maintain accurate and current records required by state and federal requirements.
- Establish a safe atmosphere conducive to a positive learning environment. Act as a role model on appropriate behaviors ensuring social and emotional development is progressing normally.
- Enforce and support school policies, philosophies and objectives with students and parents.
- Participate in events outside of the regularly scheduled work day such as orientation, open houses and conferences.
