JOB SUMMARY:
Under minimal supervision, this position may include new student recruitment, community outreach, public information, program specific promotional events, and enrollment services. Duties include assisting in establishing two-way communication with IRSC and students; developing and participating in public outreach activities and events; handling many inbound and outbound calls to and from customers; listening to their needs or problems and supplying helpful resolutions to their issues.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides information; responds to inquiries and makes presentations regarding IRSC programs; and participates in related recruitment activities and events.
- Answers inbound calls for the area.
- Assists others in program recruiting and information dissemination.
- Assists others in the Department with projects, reports, and assignments to support the success of IRSC programs.
- Performs various basic office assistance duties.
- Ensures updated information is available within the Recruitment and Admissions department.
- Creates and reviews communications to students as well as other customers; develops student service materials, resources, and documentation as assigned.
- Works until 6:30 p.m. one evening per week, and multiple evenings during peak registration.
- Completes all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Inputs prospect and admissions data in the student information system.
- Serve as an information liaison at the Welcome Desk and Student Communications Center (call center) by email, SMS messaging, over the phone, and in person.
- Room scheduling management.
- Maintain inventory and disbursement of recruitment materials.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Associate’s degree required; Bachelor preferred.
- Ability to learn quickly the rules and procedures that affect the customers of IRSC.
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively.
- Knowledge of basic office skills.
- Familiarity with the IRSC website and ability to navigate the Internet.
- Skill in organizing, analyzing, time management, and prioritizing.
- Skill in working with Microsoft Office and Windows based applications including using a student information system.
- Skill in developing and delivering presentations.
- Ability to meet deadlines, solve problems, be student oriented, maintain confidentiality, be discrete, use sound judgment, be a self-starter, apply initiative, and work independently as well as with others.
- Due to the large volume of diverse customers that IRSC serves, employees that are skilled in multiple languages or have a practical understanding of multiple cultures are preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as sedentary work involving lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying articles like docket files, ledgers, and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required occasionally, and other sedentary criteria are met.
