Master Instructor – Dental Hygiene (10-Month)
Indian River State College is seeking a passionate Master Instructor – Dental Hygiene to lead and enhance clinical and classroom experiences for students. This role involves developing and delivering high-quality instruction, coordinating clinical education, and ensuring students gain the skills needed for professional success. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene or a related field, teaching experience, a Florida Dental Hygiene license, and at least three years of clinical experience. JOB SUMMARY:
Under general direction, this position is responsible for organizing, administering, and continuously reviewing, planning, and developing clinical experiences for students enrolled in the program. This role includes performing classroom, lab and clinical instruction, managing and developing the program curriculum, and recruiting and advising students.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate clinical educational experiences of students.
- Integrate academic and clinical experiences.
- Ensure equitable student clinical experiences that promote safe patient management, professional behavior, and sound judgement throughout the program.
- Advise and assist the program director and the Dean with program -related issues.
- Update and maintain clinical equipment,
- Prepare and update an inventory list of clinical supplies,
- Provide quality didactic, laboratory, and classroom instruction;
- Perform student evaluations.
- Participate in student recruitment activities.
- Participate in the accreditation process as needed.
- Complete all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Dental Hygiene or related field and prior teaching experience in a community college or university dental hygiene setting with evidence of ability to instruct dental hygiene students or equivalent qualifications as determined by the review committee based upon applicant documentation.
- Must be a graduate of a Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) Dental Hygiene program
- Member of American Dental Hygiene Association
- Valid Florida Dental Hygiene license and 3 or more years of full-time private practice experience as a registered dental hygienist in either a general dental practice or a periodontal practice. (required)
- Must be a Florida Certified Registered Dental Hygienist
- Possess a valid Florida driver’s license.
- All instructors must meet the appropriate credentialing requirements for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This position requires physical abilities sufficient to move from room to room and maneuver in small spaces. High degree of flexibility. Auditory ability sufficient to monitor and assess health needs. Visual ability sufficient for observation and assessment necessary in dental care. Tactile ability sufficient for physical assessment. Lifting of equipment and the ability to lift and carry 20 lbs is also required. IRCC expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.
