QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
The qualifications and skill requirements for this position include:
- Bachelor degree in Nursing;
- Current Florida license as a Registered Nurse;
- Minimum of two (2) years of proven experience in clinical nursing practice in an acute care setting;
- Current/active CPR certification;
- Two (2) years of teaching/clinical coordination experience with proficiency in instruction, curriculum design, accreditation and experience in academic/clinical coordination;
- Experience with program coordination at a branch campus; use of virtual and simulation, and lab coordination.
- Instructional experience in Practical Nursing.
- Must have current knowledge of nursing to provide patient care safely and competently within the scope of practice set forth by the Florida Board of Nursing;
- Proficiency in the use of technology for classroom and clinical instruction;
- Proficiency in the use of technologies including but not limited to: Blackboard platform, distance education modalities, and Microsoft Office applications;
- Must meet the appropriate credentialing requirements for the Southern Association for Colleges and Schools (SACS).
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The essential job functions and responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:
- Both classroom instructional/clinical supervision of nursing program courses and the design and the development of the Nursing Programs;
- Designing curriculum in collaboration with department chair for nursing courses;
- Organizing and providing educational experience leading to student credentialing and gainful employment in nursing positions;
- Contributing to the recruitment and retention of students;
- Instructing in the clinical curriculum;
- Liaison with the health care agencies;
- Serve as a professional nurse role model;
- Actively participating in the nursing accreditation process;
- Serving the community;
- Serving effectively on college committees;
- May be assigned to teach at any IRSC campus or the Main Campus, which change according to the needs of the program/department;
- Weekend and evenings may be required.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The specific responsibilities for the position include, but are not limited to:
- Developing and implementing the Nursing Programs, courses, and curriculum;
- Supervising assigned students in clinical within the scope of practice set forth by the Florida Board of Nursing;
- Collaborating with faculty and staff of the College in program development, scheduling, marketing, and delivery of instruction;
- Mentoring nursing adjunct faculty;
- Effectively instructing courses in nursing theory and skills related subjects;
- Compiling all documents and completing other requirements of the Nursing Department, IRSC, state and national agencies;
- Evaluating and documenting student progress through examinations and observations of performance;
- Actively supporting student success;
- Supporting students’ professional development through appropriate organizations;
- Participating in activities to maintain ACEN accreditation;
- Participating in department, division, and general faculty meetings, applicable college committee activities, and other forms of college service;
- Maintaining an active program of professional development related to individual, professional, and institutional needs;
- Making recommendations of budgetary, curriculum, and program management matters to the Dean of Nursing;
- Serving as liaison for the School of Nursing/Health Science Division to the surrounding community;
- Coordinating clinical experiences with area health care agencies;
- Completing other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The physical requirements for this position include: having the physical abilities sufficient to move from room to room and maneuver in small spaces; possessing a high degree of flexibility; auditory abilities sufficient to monitor and assess health needs; visual abilities sufficient for observation and assessment necessary in nursing care; tactile abilities sufficient for physical assessment; and sufficient stamina to provide patient care and related responsibilities for extended periods of time (8-12 hours). This position also requires an ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of fifty (50) pounds. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, telephone, and other equipment as necessary. IRSC expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.
