Indian River Transport is seeking an experienced HR Generalist to join our team. In this role, you will be instrumental in managing a wide range of HR functions. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, adept at problem-solving, and committed to supporting a positive employee experience.

Key Responsibilities

Employee Relations & Investigations :

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries and policy guidance.
  • Address and resolve employee relations issues and conduct workplace investigations as needed.
  • Participate in disciplinary actions, document performance issues, and support termination procedures when necessary.

Recruitment & Onboarding :

  • Collaborate with hiring managers to define job requirements, draft job descriptions, and participate in the interview process; generate offer letters for selected candidates.
  • Interface with external recruitment agencies and temporary staffing providers as needed.
  • Manage the onboarding process, including new hire orientations, to ensure seamless integration of new employees.
  • Benefits Administration & Leave Management :

  • Coordinate benefits administration and annual open enrollment; act as a liaison between employees and shared services to resolve benefits-related issues.
  • Administer and maintain records for FMLA, STD, and workers’ compensation leaves, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Performance Management & Training :

  • Partner with leadership in the performance review process, assist in addressing performance issues, and support employee development and training initiatives.
  • HR Operations & Compliance :

  • Maintain and optimize HRIS records and generate detailed HR-related reports and metrics (e.g., time to hire, employee turnover) to support strategic decision-making.
  • Assist in developing and updating HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks to ensure compliance with employment laws.
  • Additional Responsibilities :

  • Provide backup support to the HR Director.
  • Stay informed on HR best practices, industry trends, and regulatory changes to continuously improve HR services and operations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications

    Education :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience :

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in an HR role, preferably as an HR Generalist.
  • Skills & Competencies :

  • Solid understanding of HR functions and employment laws, including FMLA and I-9 requirements.
  • Experience drafting offer letters and managing recruitment processes.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) are a plus.
  • Work Authorization / Security Clearance (if applicable)
