IAF is one of 15 US manufactures who can train and offer opportunities in multiple production processes: Cold-Forming (Machine Operator), Thread Rolling (Machine Operator), Electro plating, Geomet, Annealing (Manual Machine Loader & Unloader) – Heat Treatment Process, and Material Movement (Material Handler).

A Day in the life of an IAF Team Member?

As a Machine Operator, you will be the heartbeat of our processes. You will set up and operate 3 to 5 machines to our safety, quality and production standards. In Heading and Rolling we will train you to load raw material into the machine, make machine adjustments, tooling adjustments and changes, inspection fixture adjustments, you will also inspect parts to make sure we are producing excellent quality fasteners.

You would Thrive in this position if: You have a willingness to learn something new. Or if you already have experience conducting change overs depending on the part that needs to produce. Reading set-up sheets to operator machines. Have common knowledge using calipers and micrometers, and or gages to check quality of parts. Knowledge of troubleshooting and diagnosing issues with cars, machines, or you are mechanically inclined.

  • Training on 1st 6:30am-3:00pm 15 weeks in our Global Training Center, where we train you basic knowledge of the machine, and how to change the machine over, then move to 3rd 10:30pm to 7am. 6 to 12 weeks on the floor with a floor trainer on the shift assigned to.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Six months of related experience and or training, one- year certificate from a college or technical school, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Machine aptitude (preferred)
  • Trouble shooting experience (preferred)
  • Good communication
  • Organization and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work as a team
  • Ability to lift container up to 25lbs (repetitively) to 100lbs (occasionally)
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, use of hands, walk, bend, and or twist
  • Ability to work 12 hours (including Saturdays and Sundays

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

The Team Member must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. The Team Member must be able to lift a container of fasteners weighing up to 25 pounds on a regular basis. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is frequently required to sit; to use their hands to finger, handle, or feel; and to talk or hear.
