Indiana Hand to Shoulder Center provides comprehensive care for patients with hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder medical conditions and injuries. There are 12 highly-skilled and well-recognized surgeons in the practice and 22 highly-skilled hand therapists.

We are currently seeking a full-time front office coordinator for our Kokomo office.

This individual will be responsible for maintaining organization of the receptionist area and clinic, facilitating patient care, and assisting the physicians in clinic. This includes maintaining patient files, answering the telephone, scheduling patient appointments and tests, maintaining and stocking exam rooms, typing, computer data entry, ordering supplies, and assisting the therapists as needed with patient care.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare therapy charts: Obtain necessary personal and insurance information with prior authorization if necessary. Enter all new patient information correctly into the computer.
  • Print daily therapy charge tickets for patient appointments. Post therapy charges to patient accounts. Tally daily charge tickets for monthly reports.
  • Prepare therapy monthly report accurately and on time. Handle patient equipment rentals. Complete requirements for State Board of Health; culture whirlpools, complete equipment maintenance schedule, record water temperature.
  • Assist therapists with patient care on non-physician days: Remove/apply dressings, document charts, instruct patients in exercises, administer whirlpools, etc.
  • Collect co-pays, outstanding balances, or payments from patients. Balance cash drawer at the end of the day and prepare the deposit.
  • Check benefits for physician’s new therapy patients for OT co-pays before they are seen by therapist.
  • Check patients in and review patient information. Schedule follow-up visits, assist patients with billing questions and payment arrangements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized and appropriately stocked environment. Prepare supplies and maintain an ample supply of them. Order medical supplies as needed, check invoices and stock cabinets.
  • Stock all exam rooms for physician use.
  • Schedule test appointments to ensure results will be available for follow up review by physician appointment. Place patients in rooms and clean rooms after patient visits.
  • Check all patients in, update demographics and make copy of insurance cards

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be highly organized, efficient and possess strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Prior experience in medical office desired.
  • Strong working knowledge of insurance, pre-authorization, charge posting, and patient scheduling
  • Must be able to manage multiple priorities and assist patients and team members in a professional and courteous manner.

Schedule:

8 AM - 5 PM Monday - Friday
