What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Development Officer position at Indiana Members Credit Union?
PURPOSE: The Business Development Officer (BDO) is responsible for generating new business. This is accomplished by building and maintaining sponsor relations with key member companies and soliciting new sponsor company affiliations. The BDO is also expected to sell new Business Accounts and loans in order to meet IMCU sales goals. The position requires a highly motived and team oriented person with a sales mentality. The position includes a base salary with incentives.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
- Maintain contact and build relationship with current sponsor affiliations, schools and municipalities.
- Sell sponsor company employees on the benefits of membership through presentations, financial literacy seminars, sign-ups, benefit fairs, etc., all with a focus on acquiring new member applications and product sales
- Work with branch managers in the assigned area to support member retention and drive new sign ups
- Initiate sales calls on the phone and in-person to sign up prospective NEW sponsor companies
- Provide orientation information and marketing materials as needed to sponsor companies
- Maintain CRM database of communications with sponsor companies and business clients.
- Generate lending leads for Branch Managers
- Assist Treasury Management & Commercial Services with prospecting & outbound calls.
- Sell businesses on opening business accounts and loans, in addition to Health Savings Accounts
- Collaborate with health insurance brokers providing Health Saving Accounts to clients
- Assist branches and Online Account teams with troubleshooting Health Saving Accounts
- Assist ATM Department and IS Department on field ATM needs.
- Market, track and execute all terms of affinity card contract with schools, foundations & hospitals.
- Entertain clients and prospects at occasional hospitality events to build client relationships and sell prospective members on the benefits of doing business with the credit union
- Represent the credit union at various sponsor, community and/or business meetings to promote the credit union and enhance new membership growth opportunities
- Track and report results of sales and support events
- Serve as liaison between the credit union foundation, membership and community
- Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS
- Four year college degree with emphasis in business, marketing, or equivalent professional experience
- Minimum of two years Sales and/or Marketing experience and extensive knowledge of financial institutions and products.
- New account & lending experience is preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and accomplished at personal computer applications
- Must be a self-starter that possess the ability to work with little direct supervision
- Must have a reliable vehicle and be willing to travel within the North and Central Indiana market
- Must be willing to work night and weekend events as needed
