What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Accounts Representative-Full Time position at Indiana Physical Therapy?
Indiana Physical Therapy is hiring a Patient Account Representative. This position is assigned the duties and responsibilities associated with the IPT effort to secure and process payment for insurance and patient balances and/or delinquent accounts. The position will coordinate all activities and assignments with the Billing & Collection Supervisor. The duties necessary to complete the patient collection process include communicating with patients by mail and telephone, implementing discount policy, and authorizing payment arrangements. This position will also perform the duties and assignments necessary to take data collected and produced within IPT and generate filing of insurance claims for payment as well as monitor all insurance aging to ensure proper follow through on claims.
- Monday – Friday 8:00am-4:00pm
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Perform duties associated with claims processing.
- Post payments from payers and patients.
- Initiate billing process with any/all secondary insurance carriers.
- Initiate billing process for the portion of the claim that is the patient’s responsibility.
- Receive and handle incoming communication with patients and commercial payers.
- Monitor the status of all assigned accounts.
- Follow the approved protocols for collection of all aged receivables.
- Transition from the IPT insurance carrier billing process to the collection of patient balances by coordinating with other patient accounts representatives.
- Help aid in the preparation of monthly patient statements.
- Authorize payment arrangements and discounts to secure payment on patient accounts.
- Post cash, checks, and credit card receipts received for payment on account.
- Maintain the credit balance report.
Qualifications:
- Ability to comfortably communicate with various levels of individuals and groups served or associated with operation of the company.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all staff.
- Knowledge and interaction with company’s EMR or like systems.
- Proficient with personal computer program operation including but not limited to Windows, Microsoft Office, or other similar software programs.
- Ability to work legally in the United States.
