Job Summary
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Assists the Director of Advising in defining the overall direction of the College's academic advising program and the deployment of advising resources in support of the goals and priorities established by the College.
- Provides direct supervision of a subset of College advisors as assigned and provides ongoing assessment and support for direct reports. In addition, leads or serves on hiring committees and assists with the training of new advisors. Serves as a resource for all College advisors and support ongoing staff development. Serves as the first level of appeal on questions of advisor error or misconduct involving advisors reporting to them.
- Takes the lead on projects and initiatives as assigned by the Director of Advising or developed in consultation with the Director. Serves as liaison between College advising and the academic departments and programs served by their direct reports. Represents College advising on school, campus, and system-level committees, liaising effectively with other schools and offices.
- Assists with the planning and management of New Student Orientation, providing direct supervision of advisors and liaising with students, parents, and campus partners.
- Serves as part of the advising leadership team and collects data and prepares reports in support of program assessment efforts. In addition, develops and maintains knowledge of advising theory and practice, student development theory, best practices in student engagement, retention, degree completion, and post-graduation success.

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus.
