Job Summary
The role of Student Programming Specialist serves as the Director of Student Affairs for the IU Columbus campus. The Director of Student Affairs plans, implements, evaluates, and supervises the components of student affairs, with direct responsibilities in mental health outreach, cultural student groups / program planning, and facilitates student leadership. The director acts in the role of the Ombudsperson, serves as Deputy Title IX Coordinator, as well as serves as the leader of the Behavioral Consultation team.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Enhances the student experience at IU Columbus by providing mental health outreach.
- Oversees the Office of Student Affairs while playing a strategic role in developing and leading initiatives in student affairs programming and assessments.
- Serves as Budget Manager - develops and submits budget recommendations, monitors, verifies, reconciles, and approves expenditures from the general fund account associated with the office.
- Liaises with community partners and career services.
- Plays an active role in the student experience by collaborating with staff across departments to effectively communicate to new and existing students, assists with the design and delivery of new student orientation events, and aims to keep students engaged year-round with events and initiatives.
- Actively participates in staff meetings, Staff Council, and other professional development opportunities.
- Coordinates with IU Columbus senior leadership team to support strategic mission and goals.
- Makes data-driven decisions to guide program decisions and assess impact on student retention, community and belonging, and student success.

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
Work Location
This position is eligible to work a hybrid schedule (mix between 1-2 days remote and 3-4 days in-person work), subject to change in the future based on university policy and business needs.
