Job Summary
The Assistant Director is responsible for managing advocate staff and procedures related to student conduct. This role includes coordinating and training advocates handling student conduct cases and developing standards and procedures for effective case management. The Assistant Director oversees up to 120 advocate case appointments per month, averaging 30 appointments per week
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Collaborates with other offices within the Division to provide case management for students of concern and Care Team cases.
- Provides advising and coaching to IU students regarding cases and a broad range of issues, including respondents in sexual misconduct cases.
- Participates in short and long-term planning as well as cross-over training with the Student Advocate Associate Director for the Academic team.
- Manages assessment of conduct services, including preparing semester headcount surveys, manual revisions, and data for the annual report.
- Works with the Director to determine assessment needs and goals.
- Manages the conduct advocate team and procedures in the area of student conduct cases, including team meetings.
- Regularly consulting with the Student Advocate Director on advocate supervision.
- Engages with administrators and faculty regarding university policies and individual student issues.
- Manages accurate student case records.
- Develops standards and procedures for case management.
- Trains staff and advocate volunteers who work in the conduct case area of the office.
- Represents the office and the division on campus-wide committees.
- Participates in and / or attend job-related professional development, meetings, and training.
- Works closely with all full and part-time staff to support the mission and projects of the office.

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus.
