Job Summary
Department Specific Responsibilities
- Performs general kitchen cleaning and sanitation tasks as assigned by the manager in charge.
- Cleans and maintains assigned work areas which include the dishroom, the kitchen, the dining rooms, and food server areas and restrooms. This includes wiping, washing, dusting, sweeping, mopping, and trash removal.
- IU Dining Kitchen Utility Attendants do a combination of traditional custodial work as well as ware-washing and dishwashing tasks.
- The cleanliness of our facilities, equipment, and dining areas is just as important as the quality of food we serve, and we count on our Kitchen Utility Attendants to help us create and maintain an environment where our guests feel safe and comfortable eating a meal.

This role regularly requires the ability to effectively communicate. This role frequently requires the ability to handle equipment. This role frequently requires the ability to remain stationary and ascend / descend ladders / stairs. This role frequently requires the ability to move objects weighing 20-50 pounds. The role requires the ability to detect items in close proximity as well as far away; discern between colors; detect objects in peripheral space of self; discern items in detail; and to have good depth perception. This role works indoors around high temperatures and loud noises. This role involves handling meat and plant-based food products as well as a variety of ingredients that may include some or all of the top 9 allergens during the course of cleaning and ware-washing tasks. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Advertised Salary
15.00 per hour
Work Hours
11 : 00 AM - 7 : 30 PM depending on location assignment, Monday through Friday, with alternating weekends.
Management reserves the right to adjust work hours to accommodate special meals and events.
