What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time Public Arts Coordinator position at Indiana University Bloomington?
Job Summary
This is a part-time, grant-funded position, currently scheduled to run from 2025-2029. It will report to the Vice President of Arts and Humanities Research. Given the nature of the position, the ideal candidate will be self-directed, forward-thinking, and skilled in long-term project management.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Serves as representative / liaison between the artists, Indiana University, and the City of Bloomington and oversee logistics for the public art and wayfinding components of the Trades District City Campus Connection grant.
- Assists contracted artists selected by Indiana University to realize six public art projects and wayfinding / signage projects in collaboration with City of Bloomington staff responsible for overseeing the installation of the public artworks.
- Coordinates efforts between university, city, project managers, and artists for timely art installation and overall project execution.
- Establishes and maintains project schedule and deadlines.
- Plan regular meetings and agendas.
- Serves as representative for IU's artistic contributions.
- Manages apprentice program and other community artist components.
- Oversees community outreach and publicity efforts.
- Oversees purchasing, consulting contracts, and other financial needs.
- Serves as project researcher.
- Manages project communications for teams and partners.
- Demonstrated experience in accomplishing multi-faceted projects requiring facilitation of multiple parties playing diverse project roles.
