Job Summary
Department Specific Responsibilities
- Serves as a business and financial advisor, shaping short-term and long-term operational strategies in alignment with IUSM and IU policies and regulations.
- Oversees administrative functions such as finance, HR, technology, and space management while serving as the primary staff contact for internal and external stakeholders.
- Acts as the Fiscal Officer, the RCBM partners with the campus Associate Dean and Director to develop financial goals, manage budgets, and oversee University and Foundation accounts. Responsibilities include financial reporting, internal controls, compliance, and resource safeguarding. They evaluate financial impacts of agreements, ensure training on financial policies, and work towards long-term financial stability.
- Manages faculty, staff, student, and fellow HR processes, including hiring, promotions, terminations, evaluations, and compensation equity. They collaborate with leadership to determine staffing needs, create job descriptions, and ensure alignment with IUSM Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP). They resolve HR issues, oversee academic appointments, and manage faculty recruitment, tenure, and salary proposals.
- Provides financial data and analyses, the RCBM helps faculty leadership with strategic decision-making. They generate reports using University and local data to support planning and execution of initiatives.
- Oversees space utilization, procurement, allocation, repair, and maintenance. They collaborate with IUSM Office of Space Planning and Utilization to address renovations, moves, and safety concerns, ensuring compliance with University / Host Campus regulations. They also manage the organization's equipment.
- Works with Health Technology Services (HTS), University IT Services (UITS), and IU Bloomington Technology Office to ensure appropriate technology support.
- Maintains transparent communication within the organization and with IU-Bloomington, IUSM academic departments, other regional campuses, and IU Health. Ensures faculty, staff, and students receive critical updates on policies, building issues, and operational changes.
- Oversees pre- and post-award research administration, ensuring compliance with funding guidelines and School / University policies. Manages financial tracking of externally funded research and faculty startup funds.
- Provides direct supervision to administrative staff, including the Financial Administrative Specialist and HR Manager, while serving as a leadership resource for additional staff managers.
