What are the responsibilities and job description for the Research Compliance Assistant position at Indiana University Bloomington?
Job Summary
- Provides support to faculty and research staff regarding federal regulations, institutional policies, and other requirements by which their research may be regulated.
- Reviews, screens, and processes research applications, protocols, and other application materials to determine whether the studies meet review criteria according to regulations (such as IRB or IACUC).
- Monitors compliance with approved protocols and the status of all research studies; communicates compliance issues to faculty and researchers; assists in resolving problems resulting from research application submissions.
- Assists in the coordination of research review board meetings and attendance to ensure compliance with federal regulations regarding diversity of members, community representation, and voting quorum requirements.
- Participates in the development, planning, and implementation of policies and procedures in response to federal assurances and regulations governing research activities.

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
