Job Summary
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Provides expert technical knowledge and performs highly complex tasks, including systems analysis and programming related to the design, development, implementation, and support of research workflows and services utilizing IU and NSF cloud-based cyber infrastructure.
- Performs highly complex technical tasks to maintain, test, and deploy high-performance scientific applications and scientific data sets related to those systems.
- Helps to develop novel and innovative scalable cloud-based services to serve a broad spectrum of research and education goals.
- Helps scientists run domain-specific software applications to address real scientific problems.
- Provides the highest level of in-house technical support on specialized and complex research applications. Install and configure vendor-provided software packages on IU systems.
- Interacts with researcher and scientific communities to develop, deploy and maintain software packages on the University's resources. Provide assistance to partner scientists in running domain-specific software applications.
- Works with team and other teams in the RSS directorate, RT division, and other collaborators to contribute content for grant proposals and peer-reviewed papers.
- Provides guidance on the adoption of software design choices, emerging technologies, and libraries.
- Evaluates and utilizes new and emerging technologies.

This position requires the ability to communicate effectively and to operate computers and other related technical equipment. The role is required to maintain and interact with computers and frequently move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
