Job Summary
The RedHawks CARE Resource Navigator (RN) assists students by providing individualized care through resources education, coordination, and referral services, both internal and external, for students who are dealing with basic needs insecurities or personal, social, and / or emotional difficulties that may affect their academic success.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Assists the Project Director in managing and implementing RedHawks CARE and works closely with the Office of Counseling Services, Office of Financial Aid, Accessible Support Services, Office of Student Success, Student Advising Center, and other key support areas integral to student success, retention, and graduation, under the supervision of the Dean of Students.
- Serves as a case manager for students experiencing emerging and chronic situations that may compromise their ability to be successful including, but not limited, to food, housing, transportation, and health including mental health challenges.
- Interfaces directly with students, IUN's Care Team, and appropriate academic and student affairs departments on shared student support goals and initiatives.
- Works with the Project Director, Institutional Analytics, external evaluator, and internal educational researcher to evaluate the effectiveness of the RedHawks CARE initiatives against project goals, objective, and projected outcomes. Prepare student impact reports and present findings to stakeholders regarding the effectiveness of grant funding.
- Identifies basic needs resources and potential partnership to strengthen coordination, collaboration, and engagement with local, state, federal, and community-based organizations to advance systemic change.
- Assists with the design and implementation of a campus-wide strategy to address student mental health needs including a comprehensive marketing plan to promote mental health resources, education for faculty and staff, and wellness messaging to better support students in need.
- Coaches' students on strategies and interventions that support self-care and self-advocacy to manage their academic, personal, and fiscal responsibilities.
- Provides direct referrals to campus and community services and implements non-clinical interventions, program, or services, unless licensed to practice and provide mental health counseling.
- Supervises and provides leadership to the Student Support Specialist and student workers.

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
Additional Information
This position is grant funded with expected annual renewals. Renewals are contingent on the availability of grant funds.
