- Takes impressions and bite registrations
- Takes, develops and mounts x-rays
- Instructs students on taking x-rays
- Fits preliminary crowns for adjustments, creates custom temporary restorations and places temporary restorative material in teeth
- Makes and fabricates temporary crown and adjusts and cements
- Places and removes matrix retainers for alloy and composite restorations
- Places resin and amalgam restorations
- Finishes and polishes restorations and adjusts patient bite
- Performs expanded dental assistant functions and demonstrates correct procedures to students
- Sits chair side to pass instruments and supports direct patient care as indicated by procedure
- Confirms that instruments are sterilized and working properly and organize them for procedures and/or surgery
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)
WORK EXPERIENCE
- 2 years of dental assisting experience AND Completion of an accredited dental assisting training program
Required
- Indiana X-Ray License upon date of hire
- Dental Assistant Certification if working in a dental assisting specialty capacity upon date of hire
