Stark Neurosciences Research Institute's mission is to bring together the scientific community in a dynamic, collaborative organization that advances discovery of neuroscience-related disease mechanisms and therapeutic strategies, as well as disseminates and applies this knowledge to prevent, treat and cure disease. Stark Neurosciences Research Institute's research is not only reflected across departments at IU School of Medicine, but at several universities and institutions.
This position will be an important part of a multidisciplinary team working within the Indiana University (IU)/Jackson Laboratory (JAX), University of Pittsburgh (PITT) Model Organism Development and Evaluation of Late-onset Alzheimer's Disease (IU/JAX/PITT MODEL-AD) Center. The IU/JAX/PITT MODEL-AD is a multidisciplinary team at the forefront of translational Alzheimer's disease research, using cutting edge technology to develop, validate and disseminate new, precise animal models of Alzheimer's disease. The Center is looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Laboratory Research Assistant interested in working with a multidisciplinary team.

Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Provides technical assistance in all aspects of animal model development, including but not limited to imaging, preparation of reagents and biological samples, cryotomy, tabulation and calculation of data, mouse handling, surgeries, and husbandry.
- Conducts cryotomy for autoradiography and sample preparation.
- Performs immunohistochemistry and Western Blot/ELISA.
- Tabulates, analyzes, and performs statistics on data.
- Assists and performs routine laboratory procedures and preparations.
- Implements protocols for rat and mouse models.
- Performs survival and non-survival surgery.
- Conducts behavioral studies.
- Performs animal handling.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Responsible for the initiation, monitoring, completion, and reporting of routine to moderately complex research studies.
- Organizes and implements data review and analysis.
- Oversees the proper handling of laboratory specimens including processes, shipping, storage, and documentation and transfer to designated central laboratories.
- Conducts data quality assurance practices.
- Prepares research summaries and assists in progress report development.
- Maintains laboratory work areas and supply inventory.
EDUCATION

- Bachelor's degree in science or health-related discipline
