Position Title: Part-Time Industrial Technology Teacher

Salary Range: Teacher Contract pay (.5FTE)

Contract Length: School Year

Immediate Supervisor: Building Principal, Director of Adult/Career and Technical Education

Basic Function: This half-time position requires a certified teacher who will successfully develop and implement all aspects of a Technical (industrial) education program for high school students.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Possess all requirements for teaching Technology (Industrial) Education.
• Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and develops workplace attitudes.
• Has working knowledge of the subject matter, classroom management techniques, and current researched best practices and strategies, and students' learning styles and needs.
• Update the curriculum to meet changing IN state standards and College & Career Pathways for Industrial Technology
• Include a unit on safety and OSHA standards within the curriculum.
• Establishes developmentally appropriate instructional and behavioral expectations for students and communicates those to students and their families.
• Creates lessons and learning environments that are safe, respectful, and interesting, as well as multicultural, gender-fair, disability sensitive. Selects, adapts, and individualizes materials appropriate for diverse student populations and skills.
• Teaches students the required curricula using strategies that foster thinking, reasoning, and problem solving.
• Manage the behavioral, social, and emotional issues of a diverse ethnic/racial student

• Integrate academic standards for reading, writing and math skills into the curriculum.
• Participates in ongoing and regular staff and individual professional development.
• Demonstrate experience implementing innovative instructional programs.
• Regularly assesses student learning by using multiple forms of assessment.
• Collaborates with peers to develop, plan, and implement best practices based on the needs/abilities of the students.
  
  

Knowledge & Experience

• Must hold a valid Technology Education or CTE: Trade and Industrial Education teaching license or must be able to obtain, at a minimum, an Indiana Workplace Specialist I teacher license. Individuals may qualify for an occupational teaching license based upon three years (6000 hours) of directly related work experience within the field within the past five years. A traditional teaching license is desirable but is not required.
• Prior to teaching experience in urban education preferred but not required.
• Strong organizational and supervision skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with students, faculty and administration.
• Knowledge in the use of Google Suite
