Job Description: Special Education Coordinator

Teacher Contract 10 Extended Days

Reports to: Director of Special Services

General Summary

The Special Education Coordinator will assist in coordinating special education services across the district, support teachers in compliance with instructional best practices, and serve as a resource for students, staff, and families.

Essential Responsibilities

• Provide direct support to special education teachers and related service providers.
• Develop and implement professional development for teachers, staff, and families.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal special education laws, including IEP development and implementation.
• Serve as a resource to special education teachers, students, parents, and administrators.
• Act as a liaison between schools and external service providers.
• Assist in implementing the district's IEP system and alternative assessment processes.
• Serve as case conference committee chairperson as needed.
• Remain informed on current research and best practices in special education.
• Coordinate CPI training and ensure staff certification in crisis prevention.
• Work with private schools to develop appropriate programming for students with disabilities.
• Other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Services or the Superintendent.
  
  

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's Degree (minimum)
• Licensure: Valid Indiana Special Education Teaching License
• Experience: Experience working with students with disabilities in a school setting
• Knowledge: Familiarity with IDEA, Article 7, and best practices for special education services
  
  

Contract Details

• Teacher contract with up to 10 extended days
