High school graduate or equivalent. Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age. Experience with passenger transportation and children strongly desired.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Valid state issued Class B CDL with P & S endorsements. Current CPR certification.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend correspondence, memos, instructions, and documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports and correspondence using correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Ability to speak effectively with staff, students and community.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of distance, weight and volume measurement.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS And ABILITIES
Ability to operate a variety of transportation equipment. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to work independently, to function effectively in a multi-task environment, and to interact positively with students and the public. - Obey all traffic laws and observe all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
- Maintain discipline while students are on bus.
- Report undisciplined students to the proper authority.
- Keep assigned bus clean.
- Keep to assigned schedule.
- Check bus before each operation for mechanical defects.
- Notify the proper authority in case of mechanical failure or lateness.
- Discharge students only at authorized stops.
- Exercise responsible leadership when on out-of-district school trips.
- Transport only authorized students.
- Report all accidents and complete required reports.
- Enforce regulations against smoking and eating on the bus.
- Assist students boarding or disembarking if necessary.
- Inspect bus at the end of each route/assignment to ensure no students remain on bus.
- Participate in training programs as assigned.
