Purpose of the Position
Responsible of the overall maintenance and cleanliness of the school buses to which the employee is assigned.
Minimum Requirements: The following are the qualifications and minimum requirements necessary for a person to perform this job.
- Must be team oriented and able to effectively deal with people.
- Must have good communication skills.
- Must be willing to work various shifts or be called out after hours.
- Candidates are subject to criminal background checks as well as periodic checks of their driver's license.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms using established practices and procedure.
- Clean, dust, sweep, mop, empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers; replace light bulbs.
- Assist with the setup of facilities.
- Wash, clean, wax, buff school buses.
- Use and maintain assigned equipment and hand tools, brooms, mops, and squeegees for the cleaning and general maintenance of buses, walls, windows, etc.
- Wash walls and equipment; use ladders when required in work assignments.
- Follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and cleaning supplies. Use as directed.
- Move equipment, supplies and tools on an incidental basis.
- Wash accessible interior and exterior windows.
- Inform Bus Mechanic when a work order is needed.
- Support and enforce all school policies and governmental regulations such as OSHA/IOSHA rules, school health and safety regulations and guidelines, etc.
- Support and enforce policies established by the Director of Transportation.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed or as directed by the Bus Mechanic, Director of Transportation.
- Policies, procedures and functions of Wa-Nee Community Schools Board of Trustees and the Indiana Department of Education
- Use independent judgment and initiative in making sound decisions and in developing solutions to problems.
- Make independent decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the community.
- Cleaning and mechanical tools and equipment.
- Assigned Wa-Nee Community Schools building
- Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to stoop, kneel or crouch.
- Must be able to hear and speak clearly.
- Must be able to lift items of 50 lbs. regularly/100 lbs. occasionally.
