- Formative evaluations throughout the school year as per WCS Performance and Assessment Procedures.
- Annual summative evaluation prior to July 1.
- To provide student and route support to the school bus driver.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Meets applicable requirements set forth in Indiana Code 20-27 Chapter 8.
- Access to personal transportation for travel to and from the bus and/or school.
- Models consistent attendance and punctuality as routes and or trips are driven per schedule fixed by the transportation department.
- Assist the bus driver in maintaining good student conduct on the bus.
- Assist special needs students while getting on and off the bus and during the trip.
- Help maintain an overall environment of safety.
- Help the driver maintain written records.
- Operate school bus lift equipment and wheelchair securements.
- Assists driver and students in the event of an emergency.
- Operate consistently in compliance with all school, local, State, and Federal laws, rules, policies, and procedures that govern the safe operation of a school bus and student transportation.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed or as directed by the Superintendent/Director of Transportation.
- Policies, procedures and functions of Wa-Nee Community Schools Board of Trustees, Wa-Nee Transportation Department, and the Indiana Department of Education as well as all Federal and State laws, rules, policies, and procedures.
- Basic operation of vehicle and equipment.
- Bus route and student stops.
- Technology: i.e. cell phone, email, and basic Microsoft products.
- Area city and county roads and maps.
- Attend all required training opportunities.
- Safely, efficiently, and professionally work with the driver and students.
- Function as a member of a team.
- Take initiative to lead and empower others.
- Follow directions and help others follow directions.
- Use independent judgment and initiative in making sound decisions and in developing solutions to problems.
- Discreetly handle confidential and politically sensitive matters.
- Make independent decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Tactfully and courteously respond to requests and inquiries/complaints from the general public and staff.
- Establish and maintain a positive, professional, and effective working relationships with students, staff, and the community.
