DIVE into an exciting opportunity with the Indianapolis Zoo! We are currently on the hunt for Seasonal Marine Mammal Visitor Attendants. From monitoring the flow of visitors in and out of the Dolphin Pavilion to greeting our guests of all ages, this entry-level position is an integral part to ensuring our guests have a memorable experience. NOTE: This is NOT an animal care position.
Ideal candidates are committed to advancing the Zoo's mission to protect nature and inspire people to care for our world. Having a friendly attitude and professional appearance to customers, volunteers, and coworkers is vital to this position as well as being customer service oriented. This position requires a great deal of interaction with the general public; individuals must display a strong communicative attitude and interpersonal skills. This seasonal (20-35 hours per week) position may work from May 1 to November 1 with a pay rate of $13.00 per hour. A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Weekends, holidays, overtime, and/ or varied shift work is required.
The position requires the following:
- Greets guests and handles questions and concerns.
- Participates in general housekeeping and some specialized cleaning in order to create an atmosphere conducive to a pleasant Zoo experience.
- Monitors the flow of guests in and out of the Dolphin Pavilion.
- Presents professional attitude and interpersonal skills.
- Works closely with Marine Mammal staff and will act immediately to issues of safety or security as it relates to animals, visitors, volunteers, and staff based on level of experience.
- Maintains regular attendance. No excessive or unexcused absences or tardies as per the Zoo's attendance policy.
- Observes and reports maintenance needs to Assistant Curator.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors under all environmental conditions and temperatures.
