Position Overview
We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented Payroll & Benefits Coordinator to join our HR/Payroll team. This position is based in our Elkhart, Indiana office, while our team operates across multiple locations, including our home office in Eugene, Oregon. This is an exciting opportunity for a professional with experience in payroll and benefits administration. As a Payroll & Benefits Coordinator, you will ensure accurate and timely payroll and benefits processing while supporting compliance and administrative tasks. This role requires independence, strong communication, and collaboration across time zones with employees, HR, Accounting, and external vendors to drive efficient operations and process improvements.

Primary Responsibilities
- Payroll Administration: Administer and process biweekly payroll, commissions, and employee deductions, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations and maintaining accurate payroll records.
- HRIS & Maintenance Support: Support and maintain HRIS functionality by testing, implementing changes, and offering technical assistance to users while recommending enhancements and best practices.
- Benefits Administration: Oversee benefits administration, including enrollment, claims verification, compliance with regulations (e.g., ACA, FMLA), and maintaining accurate benefits records.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Collaborate with HR and Accounting to ensure payroll-related compliance and reconcile deductions, garnishments, benefits, and third-party billings.
- Employee Support: Serve as the primary contact for employee inquiries about payroll, benefits, and regulations, resolving issues promptly and providing guidance.
Qualifications
The ideal Payroll & Benefits Coordinator candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent (Associate's degree preferred) and at least three years of multi-state payroll experience with tax and wage law compliance. They should also have two years managing employee benefits programs, proficiency with HRIS systems like UKG, and strong skills in Excel and Power BI. Attention to detail, problem-solving, and the ability to meet deadlines are essential. Certification as a Payroll (CPP) or Benefits Professional (CBP) is a plus, along with integrity, reliability, and excellent communication skills.
