What are the responsibilities and job description for the Estimator position at Industrial Louvers Inc?
Serves as the first contact for customers to creating new revenue and profits for the Company. Creates loyalty and builds strong relationships with independent sales representatives and customers by providing accurate pricing and responsive service.
Provides accurate sales estimate within acceptable profit margins
- Reviews construction documents including plans and specifications, defines scope of work to bid and performs calculations on customer supplied takeoffs as necessary.
- Utilizes pricing tools including the configurator quote system to provide clear, accurate and consistent pricing.
- Obtains pricing for labor, machining, materials, equipment, tooling or any and all other components as required to manufacture job per customer requirements and satisfaction.
- Create take-offs from supplied prints utilizing Adobe and/or other take-off programs as assigned.
Secures orders based on sales estimates
- Diligently follows up on all cost estimates to obtain sales or negotiate sales within the established company guidelines and profit margins.
- Actively follows up and pursues sales leads, prioritizing opportunities consistent with company guidelines.
- Receives new orders and collects information as required. Communicates closely with Project Managers to ensure smooth processing through the system.
Supports general sales efforts
- Assists representatives in preparing substitution requests as necessary.
- Assists independent reps, contractors and architects in selecting appropriate products when specifications are unclear or in cases when there is not a specification.
- Collects information on lost quotes for use in evaluating opportunities to increase win ratios on future work.
- Utilizes Microsoft Outlook to schedule tasks, meetings and alerts to respond on time and meet deadlines.
- Provides backup support to Project Managers as directed by the Inside Sales Manager.
- Assists in collecting market intelligence and competitor product information and shares information as directed by Inside Sales Manager.
- Be able to work cohesively with multiple, internal departments.
- Travels to trade shows and customer visits occasionally.
Education and/or Experience
- Associates degree in related field or bachelors degree or equivalent from an accredited institution preferred. Three to five years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably within the commercial building, building products manufacturing or architectural industries.
- Experience working with MS Office, Adobe and Bluebeam.
- Experience reading and interpreting architectural drawings.
- Team player and collaborator.
