Our client, a leading player in the oil and gas sector, is seeking an experienced Construction Coordinator III to support a long-term capital project within their San Francisco refinery. This role is part of the internal Turnaround Group and plays a critical role in managing logistics and construction coordination during turnaround (TA) events.
Key Responsibilities:
- Turnaround Logistics Support:
- Set up site infrastructure such as trailers, lunch tents, permit shacks, contractor PPE storage, etc.
- Order TA consumables (snow fencing, fire blankets, bolt lubricants, etc.).
- Ensure parking logistics for contractors.
- Construction Planning & Execution:
- Assist the Construction Lead in developing the Construction Execution Plan, including contracting strategies, staffing, and management systems.
- Provide input into design engineering to ensure accessibility and efficient use of yard space.
- Ensure efficient planning for handling and lifting major equipment and sub-structures.
- Coordination Across Disciplines:
- Work with site supervision in areas such as civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, coatings, insulation, and more.
- Collaborate with HSE, QA/QC, logistics, materials control, and other field staff.
- Mobilization & Site Support:
- Support mobilization of teams: arrange office setups, IT needs, transport, accommodations, medical services, and emergency procedures.
- Contracting & Procurement:
- Assist in pre-qualification of contractors and fabricators.
- Participate in bid evaluations, clarifications, and kick-off meetings.
- Draft and review scopes of work and contract documents.
- Safety & Quality Management:
- Support implementation of site safety systems and help achieve safety and environmental targets.
- Assist with QA/QC systems and manage third-party QA/QC contractors.
- Project Controls & Monitoring:
- Review contractor schedules and progress reports.
- Validate progress and negotiate recovery plans as needed.
- Oversee both internal and contractor construction teams.
Basic Qualifications:
- 5–10 years of experience managing logistics for Turnaround events.
- 1.5–3 years of major construction experience in the petroleum or industrial sectors.
- At least 1 year in a construction management role.
- Willingness and ability to relocate.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or equivalent.
- Strong technical and construction knowledge.
- Fluency in a second language or aptitude to learn.
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, and team coordination skills.
