Position Summary
Provides prompt, professional, and courteous service to members of the public in-person, by phone, email, or in writing. Receives and processes cash, check, and credit card payments. Follows established policies and procedures, is well organized, and detail oriented. Works cooperatively within a team environment to ensure all tasks are completed timely. Substantial independent judgment and ability to work independently is required. Knowledge of various functions of the Clerk’s Office and how it relates to other agencies.
Requires extensive knowledge of and strict adherence to requirements and regulations related to the filing of legal documents and court proceedings; accessing court services; accessibility of court records, especially confidential records; and various fees and payment processes.

Agency Summary
The Marion County Clerk is the custodian of all court records, serves as the court’s fiscal agent, trustee of child support payments, and issues marriage licenses.

Position Responsibilities
Receives and processes pro se filings and subsequent filings, including Creates new civil case filings, and processes subsequent flings, expungements, paternity, guardianship, protective orders, and other court filings
Creates new case files within the case management system
Retrieves and responds to court record requests, payment histories, and other records
Responds to inquiries and requests for information from other agencies and members of the public
Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent and four (4) years of previous clerical experience in a court or similar legal setting is required. Must be able to communicate effectively orally, verbally, and in written formats. Attention to detail is a priority. Requires great customer service skills and the ability to promote teamwork and build effective relationships.
Preferred Job Requirements and Qualifications
Associates degree or some post-secondary education. Clerical experience in a court or similar legal setting.
