POSITION LOCATION : Indianapolis

FLSA STATUS : Non-Exempt

DURATION OF POSITION : April – September | Event Days

POSITION SUMMARY :

Provide Support to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s Communications Department in the DEX Imaging Media Center by providing a world-class customer service experience for an international range of media members. This will include working with the communications team to ensure the media center is set up prior to marquee events, creating a welcoming atmosphere and assisting members of the media with any questions or issues throughout event weekends. This position is required to be on site at IMS during major race weekends, interacting with media and assisting with event operations. By applying for this role, you acknowledge that you will be required to work weekends, including some holidays (such as Memorial Day).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES :

  • Serve as a steward to all media, greeting and assisting with their needs during their stay (questions, photocopies, locker assignments, etc.) in a manner that is reflective of the Penske Entertainment standards, going above and beyond to enhance the customer experience.
  • Staff media center floors as assigned
  • Oversee and implement media center seating chart
  • Assist with credential enforcement
  • Maintain general awareness of on-track schedule and key press events with the ability to communicate and / or update media members throughout the day
  • Understanding of media center policies and guidelines, working with communications team to address any issues
  • Ensure proper information is always on display in paper racks and on the televisions and appropriate volume levels are set on the televisions when applicable
  • Coordinate with housekeeping team to ensure a clean and orderly environment
  • Assist with meal distribution and maintain a clean and orderly appearance after meals are served

QUALIFICATIONS :

The ideal candidate is / has :

High school diploma or GED

  • Positive attitude and interpersonal skills
  • Skilled problem solver
  • High integrity and confidentiality
  • Strong communication, analytical, written and verbal skills
  • Background in media relations, communications or similar is helpful but not required
  • Bilingual candidates are encouraged.

  • WORK HOURS :

    This position requires working on weekends and evening hours based upon our business needs. Flexibility and adaptability are key skills needed for this role. The candidate must be able to work weekends and unusual hours and must have a flexible schedule.
