Role Title: Regional Counsel Americas
Role Function and Group: Law
Location: Linden, NJ
Position Summary:
- Support the Regional Head Counsel Americas, and Infineum’s global commercial legal function within the Americas region.
- Support the business strategy and operations, while acting as a trusted professional and value-adding business partner.
- Provide professional, pro-active advice and support to Infineum USA and Infineum affiliates across the Americas (currently Brazil) on a wide range of commercial and strategic legal, compliance and corporate governance issues.
- Provide cross-functional legal support in compliance with laws and regulations, company policies and industry standards in areas including but not limited to antitrust, anti-bribery, employment, environmental, international trade, data privacy and risk management.
- Prepare, review and negotiate all types of contracts and other legally relevant documents, including relevant standards, templates and policies.
- Manage external claims and litigations, with a strategic approach to the underlying dispute.
- Instruct and work with outside counsel and other legal consultants.
- Monitor legislation within the Americas region that could affect Infineum’s operations and business and propose/implement relevant actions and policies to ensure compliance.
- As an integral member of the Law Department, active involvement in a range of in-house departmental and corporate initiatives.
A successful candidate will have:
- JD degree and a license to practice law in at least one US state is required.
- Must be admitted to at least one state bar and be in good standing.
- Minimum of 5-10 years of proven experience as a legal counsel in a business environment. Combination of in-house and private practice experience preferred.
- Ability and willingness to work collaboratively with legal and commercial colleagues and to thrive in the cultural diversity of a global business.
- Strong communication, presentation, drafting, and negotiation skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with all levels within the business.
- Strong analytical abilities, judgment, attention to detail, and ability to deal with ambiguity.
- Ability to manage a heavy workload with conflicting priorities.
- Well-versed in how businesses operate, with financial acumen, strong commercial mindset, and a “can do”, “yes if” rather than “no because” approach.
- In-depth understanding of how legal issues affect organizations, with ability to analyze business requirements from a legal perspective and transform into practical, timely and value-added solutions, actions and guidelines
- Self-driven, motivated, assertive, persistent and pragmatic.
