Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Technical Writer to support the documentation needs of the Future Operationally Resilient Ground Evolution (FORGE) Enterprise OPIR Solution (EOS). The Technical Writer will be responsible for creating, editing, and maintaining technical documents, user manuals, training materials, and other program-related content to ensure clarity, accuracy, and compliance with customer and program requirements. The ideal candidate will have experience in technical writing for DoD aerospace programs and the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear and concise documentation.
Please note, this position is contingent upon successful capture of the EOS contract.
Primary Responsibilities
Documentation Development:- Create and maintain a variety of technical documents, including system manuals, user guides, training materials, and technical specifications
- Develop content that accurately reflects the functionality and operation of satellite ground system components, including software, hardware, and interfaces
- Ensure all documentation complies with DoD standards, MIL-STDs, and contract requirements

Collaboration:
- Work closely with systems engineers, software developers, test engineers, and other technical staff to gather and interpret technical information
- Act as the liaison between engineering teams and end-users to develop user-friendly documentation
- Participate in technical and program reviews to ensure documentation aligns with current system designs and updates

Editing and Quality Assurance:
- Review and edit technical documents for grammar, clarity, consistency, and accuracy
- Ensure that all content adheres to established style guides, templates, and customer-specific guidelines
- Maintain version control and track changes across all documentation deliverables

Content Management:
- Organize and manage documentation libraries, ensuring easy access for internal teams and external stakeholders
- Support the preparation and submission of contract deliverables, ensuring compliance with program schedules and quality standards
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in technical writing, preferably in DoD or aerospace programs
- Proficiency with documentation tools such as Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and XML/DITA-based authoring tools
- Familiarity with DoD documentation standards and processes, including MIL-STD-38784 or similar
- Ability to understand and communicate complex technical concepts effectively
- Strong organizational, editing, and time-management skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency with Sphinx
- Understanding of Overhead Persistent Infra-Red missions and technology
- Experience working on satellite ground system or related technical programs
- Familiarity with configuration management tools (e.g., Windchill, SharePoint)
- Certification in technical communication (e.g., CPTC, STC)
Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, or a related discipline; equivalent experience will be considered
Clearance Requirement
Active DoD Secret clearance. Top Secret with SCI eligibility preferred
