Position Overview
Seeking an Assistant Training Specialist to aid with the training curriculum being held at 10th Space Operations Squadron (10 SOPS) Detachment Delta, Colorado Springs, CO, in support of the Satellite Operations, Maintenance, and Support Services (SOMSS) training program. As a member of our team, you will assist the Training Specialist Lead in providing Satellite Operator (SO) training to designated Contractors and Government personnel on the following satellite communication (SATCOM) systems: Narrowband Legacy (Fleet Satellite (FLTSAT), Ultra High Frequency (UHF) Follow-On (UFO) systems) and Mobile User Objective System (MUOS) satellite constellations.
Primary Responsibilities
Experience using the Instructional Systems Design (ISD) model
Education
Bachelor's degree in related field or in lieu of degree; experience performing instruction in military satellite system operations
Travel
Occasional travel to support training program and mission requirements.
Clearance
Secret (Active) Required, Top Secret (Desired)

Primary Responsibilities
- Assist with the execution of the SOMSS Training Program to include participation in certifying and de-certifying SOMSS Satellite Operators. This position has shared oversight of the training program as well as making recommendations to the Training Specialist Lead for certifications across the Satellite Operator staff
- Completes SO qualification prior to supporting duties as a trainer
- Completes Trainer On-the-Job Training (OJT) with Training Specialist Lead
- Supports shifts on the watch floor as an SO. Shifts are modified as necessary to support training taskings
- As the Assistant Training Specialist, supports on-call as needed to ensure shifts are covered by qualified personnel
- While on shift, assesses current SO practices and task execution. Provides feedback and recommendations to the operations and training specialist leads regarding changes to training requirements
- Assist in providing OJT to new hires prior to the SO training session to establish familiarization of the system as well as verify accounts and permissions
- Reviews and make recommendations to existing curriculum and assists in developing new training materials, as needed, to support the initial and recurring training of Satellite Operators
- Assists in updates to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and checklists, and assists in creating new documents as needed
- Following the Instructional Training Standards from the U.S. Space Force (USSF), the Assistant Training Specialist helps in developing task lists that drive training objectives and evaluation criteria for Satellite Operator certification
- Contributes to focused training material to support Monthly Recurring Training (MRT)
- Supports operational review boards and provides inputs to the lead as needed and supports recertification activities
- Three (3) to seven (7) years' experience in Telemetry, Tracking, and Commanding (TT&C) and technical training in satellite operations at a comparable level of responsibility in projects of similar size, scope, and complexity.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Excellent organizational skills
- Experience communicating and working with customers
- Must be fluent in MS Office applications
- Qualified in Satellite Operations in accordance with the Personnel Qualifications Standards (PQS) and USSF Master Task Lists (MTLs)
- Must certify in the Instructor Qualification Course (IQC) within 90 days of attending the course
- Technical and engineering knowledge with the ability to convey complex concepts in an easy-to-understand format
