Job Description
- The Client seeking a skilled Mid-Level Mainframe Developer to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with mainframe technologies, including COBOL, JCL, DB2, and CICS. The candidate should be adept at analyzing, designing, developing, testing, and maintaining mainframe applications to support business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, enhance, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, and CICS.
- Perform code reviews, debugging, and performance tuning for existing applications.
- Analyze business requirements and translate them into efficient technical solutions.
- Work closely with business analysts, project managers, and QA teams to ensure application quality and performance.
- Develop and execute unit tests and system tests to ensure application stability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in a timely manner.
- Document technical specifications, processes, and system changes.
- Work within an Agile/Scrum development environment and contribute to sprint planning.
- Ensure compliance with security standards and industry best practices.
Required Qualifications:
- 7 years of experience in mainframe application development.
- Strong programming skills in COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, and VSAM.
- Experience with IMS DB/DC is a plus.
- Knowledge of TSO/ISPF, File-AID, Abend-AID, and ChangeMan or other version control tools.
- Proficiency in SQL queries and performance tuning for DB2.
- Experience in batch and online application development.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
