Project: Construction of a 660-acre Solar and Chemical Plant
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the construction of a state-of-the-art solar and chemical plant in Liberty, Texas. The Project Manager will oversee all phases of the project, from planning and execution to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and safety standards. This role requires expertise in handling unstable soil conditions, particularly fat clay, and managing all construction personnel and site activities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Leadership
- Oversee the entire project lifecycle, from design to commissioning.
- Manage all on-site personnel, including contractors, engineers, and laborers.
- Establish and maintain a culture of safety, accountability, and collaboration.
2. Soil Stabilization Expertise
- Assess and address challenges posed by fat clay and unstable soil conditions.
- Collaborate with geotechnical engineers to develop effective soil stabilization strategies.
- Monitor soil-related risks and implement remediation measures as needed.
3. Planning and Coordination
- Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, and environmental consultants.
- Ensure all construction activities align with design specifications and regulatory requirements.
4. Resource Management
- Allocate and optimize resources, including equipment and labor.
- Oversee procurement of materials and ensure timely delivery.
5. Compliance and Quality Assurance
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Conduct regular quality checks and inspections to meet project standards.
6. Stakeholder Communication
- Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, including company executives, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
- Provide regular updates on project progress, challenges, and solutions.
7. Risk Management
- Identify and mitigate project risks, particularly those related to soil instability and safety.
- Develop contingency plans to address unforeseen challenges.
8. Team Leadership
- Recruit, train, and manage on-site personnel.
- Foster a positive work environment and resolve conflicts efficiently.
Qualifications1. Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Master’s degree or PMP certification is a plus.
2. Experience
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in project management for large-scale construction projects.
- Proven expertise in handling soil stabilization and foundation challenges, particularly in fat clay conditions.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary teams on complex construction sites.
3. Skills
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
- In-depth knowledge of soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering principles.
- Ability to manage budgets, schedules, and quality control.
4. Certifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
- OSHA 30 certification or equivalent safety training.
